Description ------------ Suggested Procedure for Moving the Pro/INTRALINK Data Server and/or File Server to a New Machine. Alternate Technique ------------------- See Resolution below. Resolution ---------- To move the Data Server to a new machine or set up a copy of a Data Server on a separate machine, the following procedure should be executed (Unix users must be logged on as the oracle user and NTusers must be logged in with administrative privileges): 1. Create a .dmp file of the Oracle Metadata for the original (old) Data Server. There are two methods. 1.1. Method 1. Use the Data Server Management Utility 1.1.1. Start the Data Server Management Utility (execute \intralink\bin\proimgr) and select: 1.1.2. #Server, #Connect Data Server, Enter "system" user's password (default password is manager) 1.1.3. #Export, #Export Dump File \ ex. d:\folder1\may7.dmp 1.2. Method 2. Use the ilink_export script in the \intralink\export directory. 1.2.1. Execute: ilink_export \ ex: ilink_export manager d:\folder1\may7.dmp *NT users must execute ilink_export from a DOS prompt. 2. Install a new Data Server of the same build as the original Data Server on the new machine. If a file vault on the new machine will be used, install a File Server on this machine first. Otherwise, enter the old File Server machine name when installing the Data Server. 3. Import the .dmp file (created in step 1) on the new machine using the ilink_import script in the \intralink\export directory. 3.1. ilink_import 3.2. Example: ilink_import manager d:\disk1\may7.dmp *NT users must execute ilink_import from a DOS prompt. 4. The new Data Server's metadata still references the original File Server machine and file vault from the old Data Server. To move the file vault to a new machine or update a copied Data Server to look at a new File Server and File Vault: 4.1. Start the Data Server Management Utility (execute \intralink\bin\proimgr) and select: 4.1.1. #Server, #Connect Data Server (default password is manager) 4.1.2. #Server, #Connect Intralink Admin (use your Intralink Administrator's username and password) 4.2. Register the File Server on the new machine with the Data Server. 4.2.1. #Vault, #Create File Server 4.2.2. Hostname, Port number 4.3. Move the File Vault to the new machine and unregister the old File Server. If making a copy of the Data Server, choose to manually move the vault and then copy the files in the file vault to the new location. This will leave the files for the original Data Server to access. 4.3.1. #Vault, #Move File Vault 4.3.1.1. Enter Name of File Vault to move. Example: SYSPOOL 4.3.1.2. Enter New Host name 4.3.1.3. Enter New Path to File Vault *Path to File Vault must not exist 4.3.1.4. Enter Password for File Server 4.3.1.5. Enter Password for File Server on New Host 4.4. Unregister the old File Server. 4.4.1. #Vault, #Remove File Server *All file vaults must be moved off original File Server machine before. File Server can be unregistered. 4.4.2. File Server Name to Remove , Password 5. If the old File Server is no longer being used, the File Server process on the old machine can be shut down and its loadpoint deleted (UNIX) or if running NT, use #Control Panel, #Add Remove Programs to remove Pro/INTRALINK File Server. Note: If objects have been checked out to a WORKSPACE as a link rather than local copy, the user will need to check-out the objects again after the File Vault has been moved. This TPI applies to all versions of Pro/INTRALINK.
